Bus transport from Ylläki

When you want to experience the peace and quiet of nature in the middle of the experience and see wonderful art, this is the excursion.

Availability:Wednesdays in the weeks 7-15 (February 17-April 14, 2021)


Time: Departure at 9:30 a.m. from Äkäslompolo from Jouni's shop (Jouni's shop next to Iso poro), return at 2 p.m. (departure from Särestö at around 1 p.m.), duration about 4.5 hours.
Total duration: 4.5 hours, of which driving time approx. 1 h 10 min in each direction

Price: €65 (incl. VAT)/person (with Museum card €60, card must be presented at the museum)
The price includes: transportation, entrance ticket, guide services and a cup of coffee.

Requirements: There is some walking in the destination, shoes suitable for walking and equipment according to the weather.Please note that walking with stilettos is not allowed in the cafe or in the museum buildings due to sensitive floor materials.

The destination is not accessible.

The cafe also has a museum shop, the contents of which you can explore while enjoying a coffee. In the cafe, you can also watch films about the artist's life and work.

The journey goes from Äkäslompolo along the Maisematie over the fell to Ylläsjärvi and from there to Kaukosee and further along the dirt road to Särestö on the banks of Ounasjoki. Peace and quiet, in the middle of wonderful nature, welcomes visitors as soothing and experiential. During the transport, tune in to the atmosphere by hearing the artist's thoughts on the world going on from the recording. Upon arrival, visitors are received by an expert guide who gives a genuine touch to the artist's life and content-rich art.
The authentic 19th-century courtyard and lifestyle of the Särestöniemi museum, the modern log studio, and the great kelohonka gallery hide the life story of the painter, professor Reidar Särestöniemi (1925–1981) and the large works of art that dazzle in their colors.

Time: Departure at 10:30 a.m. and return around 3:00 p.m., in front of Design Hotel Levi

Total duration: 4.5 hours, of which driving time approx. 60 min in one direction

Price: €65 (incl. VAT)/person. €60 with a museum card (show the card at the museum).

The price includes: round-trip transportation, entrance ticket, guide services and a cup of coffee.
