How to get to Särestö

Särestöniemi museum is located in Kaukonen village, Kittilä: drive the main road 79 to Kaukonen, follow the Särestöniemi-museo sign and turn to a dirt road that takes you directly to the museum.

Our accurate address is Särestöntie 880, Kaukonen.

It's a one hour drive from Levi or Ylläs.

Parking for the marked area (P) only with 400meters walk to the ticket Café & ticket sales. Reduced mobility parking is possible near the Café building, next to Reidar Särestöniemi's statue.

Ticket sales from the Café, please note last entrance at 5pm.

The museum consists of three separate buildings with a bit of distance between each one. Only the Café is wheelchair accessible, other buildings can be reached through stairs. (the Gallery building stairs do not have a rail). The buildings are in a forest area, so the terrain varies; sturdy shoes are recommended.

An accessible restroom is situated in the Café building. There is also a baby care table.

Personal aides have free entry to the museum. Guide dogs are also welcome.

Ask for customer seating in the exhibition premises from the Café/ticket sales.

The Café also provides torches during winter since the museum outside area has reduced lighting conditions.
